Preventive Dentistry
The First Visit
At your initial visit, we will work hard to earn your trust and to become your lifelong partner in oral health. The visit should last about an hour and a half. First, we will capture digital X-rays and intraoral images to update your records. The dentist will then conduct a thorough checkup and talk with you about your concerns, needs, and short-and long-term goals. Together, you and the dentist will review your diagnostic photos. If you’re interested in replacing old dental work or correcting esthetic flaws, ask about cosmetic dentistry. Dental care presents many options these days, so Dr. Matthew or Dr. Stephanie Martin will explain recommended restorative treatments and help you determine the best plan for the future of your smile.
The Dental Cleaning
In the absence of gum disease, you may meet with our hygienist for a thorough dental cleaning after your checkup. The hygienist can answer all of your questions about daily oral healthcare and dental products. Upon your request, she can show you easy ways to brush and floss your teeth.
Building & Maintaining Your Smile
After your initial exam and cleaning, you may need to return for dental procedures. We will be happy to customize your appointment according to your unique preferences. Do you feel stressed at dental visits? If so, the dentist may recommend nitrous oxide or sedation dentistry. You will be completely comfortable in our ergonomic dental chair with a pillow, blanket, and sunglasses to soften the bright lights. Our operatories feature DVD players and noise-cancelling headphones, so you can relax and enjoy your favorite film during a procedure. After your treatment plan is finished, be sure to visit Dr. Matthew and Dr. Stephanie Martin every six months for a preventive checkup and cleaning. These visits will allow our team to deter oral health problems, so you can enjoy your sensational smile for years to come!
